This Utah homeowner wanted to create an attractive, high-performance home theater. Lifestyle Electronics of Park City, Utah, designed a theater that met those expectations - and more!

Customer Wish-List

  • High Quality without High Complexity: While the homeowner wanted to create a cinematic-like experience, he wanted to do it without a significant amount of specialized finishes, acoustic treatments or engineering.
  • Full House: The homeowner wanted the theater to comfortably seat up to 12 people.

The Challenges

This spec home was designed and built as a green home. To maximize materials and minimize costs, Lifestyle Electronics was asked to recycle leftover tongue-and-groove wood trim from the living room ceiling.

The Solutions

  • Audio/Video System: Lifestyle Electronics purposely designed the theater to integrate with the whole-home distributed audio/video system, digital media hub and music system. That gave the homeowner access to the home's eight distributed video sources, including an Xbox 360 gaming system and a Blu-ray player.
  • Projector: Lifestyle Electronics installed a high-light-output projector that provides a "plasma-like" picture with outstanding quality and screen brightness.
  • Acoustical Performance: The room's acoustics - which include speaker towers, in-wall surround-sound speakers, digital amplifiers and dual subwoofers - were calibrated to THX specifications for speaker placement, room volume and listening angles. Plus, Lifestyle Electronics added a 1" acoustical treatment on 75 percent of the wall surfaces to enhance sound quality.
  • Recycled Material: The homeowner loved the tongue-and-groove trim used on the walls of another theater designed by Lifestyle Electronics, so the same concept was used in this home. Because of the tongue-and-groove lines, Lifestyle Electronics minimized other lines, columns and other designs/patterns in the room to keep the design simple and clean.
