Doing Our Part:
CEDIA is committed to reducing the impact that CEDIA EXPO has on the environment. By making simple changes and taking small steps, we are making CEDIA EXPO environmentally friendly!

Reduce, reuse…recycle. Recycling containers for plastic and glass bottles, aluminum/tin cans, paper, and cardboard products will be placed throughout the convention center. These containers will be placed in all meeting rooms, public spaces, and exhibit halls – making it easy for you to recycle! In addition to recycled material, all solid and liquid waste will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

Print smarter. In an effort to conserve on paper, attendees will have the opportunity to download courseware at the time of registration. In addition, CEDIA University core curriculum courseware will be available for purchase in CEDIA’s bookstore. This is in an effort to reduce large numbers of unused courseware and cut back on CEDIA University’s paper usage.

Quality control. The convention center is centrally located in the heart of Denver, with means walking distance to over 300 restaurants & 7000 hotel rooms. In addition, the light rail has now added a convenient stop at the convention center, and serves the greater metro Denver area – virtually eliminating the need for motorized transportation.

Be bright about light. Colorado Convention Center uses compact fluorescent lights, with timed lighting control systems. These systems allow for lights to be at 50% during move in/out, and at 100% only during show hours. Through lighting control there is a reduced amount of energy used.

Staying cool and under control. The convention center now uses HVAC systems for both heating and cooling. The facility now operates on a the city-wide steam tube and shell system for heating, which in turn allows for lower preset temperatures. As for cooling, moving onto a central underground chilled water loops has allowed the facility to more efficiently cool the building.

In addition, all exterior glass is low E grade which helps maintain the buildings temperature. Using low E rated glass, heat, UV rays, and IR rays are reflected back to their source. The convention center has over 300,000 sq ft of glass, and by using low E it prevents the formation of condensation and can help increase the loss of heat by up to 25%.

Reducing water consumption. All the toilets and urinals have been replaced with “low flush” versions, in turn saving 1,000 gallons if flushed simultaneously. All of the old toilets and urinals were donated to a local gravel company that used the porcelain for their road base on local projects.

Practicing ‘Good Housekeeping.’ The convention center has eliminated the use of harmful chemicals for EXPO, by using bio degradable and/or bio renewable products. Also, all chemical products are mixed bottle-to-bottle, reducing the affect on the air quality.

Doing Your Part:
CEDIA is providing you the opportunity to offset your airline travel emissions through Carbonfund.org. It’s quick and painless. All you have to do is donate $5 (domestic flights) or $12 (international flights) when you register. Donations will go directly to Carbonfund.org, which will then be used to offset carbon dioxide emissions.
